About Us
HomeView is a service run by Fosseway
Housing Association on behalf of the Council. The services offered by HomeView
include:
- A free, impartial, independent and comprehensive housing advice
service
- Advice and Assistance for homeless households
- A lettings service advertising available homes in the Cotswold
District
- A rent deposit guarantee scheme.
Comprehensive Housing Advice
The advice service is free, confidential,
impartial and independent. It is also available to everyone, regardless of your
circumstances, and can offer advice on a wide range of issues including
homelessness, tenant and landlord issues and wider housing options, for
example, affordable rented, private rented and low-cost home ownership.
Homelessness
HomeView investigate homeless applications
on behalf of Cotswold District Council, to determine whether the Council has a
duty to rehouse you under homelessness legislation. They can offer you advice
and assistance, and in some circumstances, may be able to offer temporary accommodation
whilst your application is investigated. If you think that you are, or are
about to become homeless, you should contact HomeView as soon as possible.
Lettings Service
In 1997, the Council and other housing
organisations joined together to form the Cotswold Accommodation Partnership
(CAP) operate a joint housing register. This is managed by HomeView and is
known as the HomeView Register. It means
that you only need to complete one application form to apply for, or be
considered for, affordable housing to rent and buy within the Cotswold
District.
Some of the CAP landlords operate a
choice-based lettings service. This means that they advertise available
properties and applicants can apply (known as ‘bidding’) for properties that
they like. Properties are then allocated according to eligibility criteria,
banding based on housing need and waiting date. You can apply to join the
HomeView register and find out more about choice based lettings on this
website.
Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme
The Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme has been set up to help people in significant
housing need access private rented accommodation. It operates by offering a
guarantee to the landlord against damage or non-payment of rent which can be
claimed at the end of the tenancy and is usually equivalent to one months rent.
During the tenancy, the tenant is asked to make regular payments into a rent
deposit guarantee fund. This contribution is refundable at the end of the
tenancy, subject to no claim being made against the guarantee.
